This case study documents the management practices of a unique
tea estate located in Darjeeling, India that has more land under
forest than tea. Several community based initiatives have been
undertaken , along with biodynamic methods of growing tea and
the management believes that it is these practices that contribute to
producing the special organic tea of Makaibari.

The research paper was used for IUCN directory on Community
conserved areas in India.
